The Indian stainless steel manufacturer mainly produces stainless steel kettles. Due to the variety of product sizes, traditional manual welding is inefficient, inconsistent, and difficult to maintain uniform quality. The client hoped to achieve efficient welding and rapid switching between multiple product sizes by introducing an automated CNC laser welding machine, thereby improving both production efficiency and welding quality.

2. Complexity and Technical Challenges of CNC Laser Welding

Compared with handheld laser welding machines, CNC laser welding machines not only require stable equipment performance but also place higher demands on parameter adjustment capabilities and fixture design.

In handheld welding, operators control the welding path and angle based on experience. In CNC welding, all parameters—welding path, speed, power, pulse width, etc.—must be programmed in advance. Without sufficient technical knowledge and process experience, even the highest-spec machine may fail to achieve ideal welding results.

Moreover, for stainless steel kettles of different shapes and thicknesses, controlling heat input, positioning accuracy, and fixture design during welding is crucial. Slight deviations can cause uneven welds or thermal deformation. Therefore, CNC laser welding is not only a matter of equipment performance but also a test of technical expertise and design capability.

For the kettle body, a continuous laser was selected, and a fixture was designed to accommodate six different clamps. Switching between sizes is simple and quick, allowing welding of multiple kettle body sizes with one machine.

For the kettle spouts, which are very thin, a pulse laser specially designed for ultra-thin metals was used. Since the spouts also come in six sizes, a dedicated fixture with six corresponding clamps was designed for spout welding.

During sample commissioning, ZS Laser technicians repeatedly adjusted welding power, frequency, focus position, and welding paths to achieve smooth, pore-free, and deformation-free welds. After confirming the samples, the client expressed high satisfaction with both weld strength and appearance.

4. Project Progress: Commissioning Completed, Soon to be Shipped to India

The machine has now completed initial installation and preliminary commissioning, with all performance indicators meeting factory standards. The ZS Laser team is conducting final quality checks and will arrange shipment once confirmed. After the equipment arrives at the client’s factory, ZS Laser technicians will provide remote assistance for installation and process optimization to ensure rapid and stable production.
